Let’s hear it for freedom!
A crowd of thousands shouted out a new call for human rights during last night’s Amnesty International concert in Brooklyn!
The show featured musical performances by Imagine Dragons, Lauryn Hill, Tegan & Sara, and Colbie Caillat, but one moment in the night was by far the most moving!
Madonna on stage introducing Pussy Riot!
The two members of the Russian political girl group who were just released from prison received an AH-Mazing and inspiring introduction from her Madgesty, who thanked them for standing up for what they believe in and what is RIGHT!
And for making the word “pussy” acceptable to say in her house!
HA!
Madonna admitted that even her 8-year-olds are saying the P-word, telling the audience:
“I├óΓé¼Γäód like to thank Pussy Riot for making the word ├óΓé¼╦£pussy├óΓé¼Γäó a sayable word in my household. It was once in the illegal word category with my two 8-year-olds and now they go around saying ├óΓé¼╦£pussy’ all the time. In reference to Pussy Riot, of course. So, thanks for messing up my sh*t!├óΓé¼┬¥
On a more serious note, Madonna described receiving death threats during her Russian tour due to her support of Pussy Riot and how the government deemed her show as being a “gay” show. She claimed 87 of her fans were even arrested for gay behavior!
And that’s why the message of Pussy Riot is so important! Freedom is worth fighting for!
