Madonna is adamant on proving that she’s not bending the rules to adopt little Mercy James from Malawi!
Reports are coming out of Malawi that civil society groups and human rights activists in the African country are saying the adoption could be considered “child trafficking.”
Uh, what???
Could you explain that to us, please?
Madonna’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, pupued the groups’ allegations stating the following:
“The adoption process for Mercy began over a year ago when Madonna met her on one of her visits to Malawi. The connection was instant and profound… Madonna’s desire to adopt Mercy is totally heartfelt. She is not skirting any legal issues in her application to adopt this child and is looking to provide a loving family environment and the best education and health care possible for a child who has been in an orphanage since her birth.”
Rosenberg also stated that the country of Malawi has given Madge “tremendous support” regarding the adoption, including the support of President Bingu Wa Mutharika.
Of course she has support!
Her Madgesty’s palace is a much better environment to raise a child in than a Malawi orphanage, wouldn’t you say???
