Mailboxes To Get Saturday Off?

Thanks economy for another low blow.

After suffering a record $3.8 billion loss in the 2009 fiscal year, the U.S. Postal Service plans to propose the end of Saturday delivery this morning and then to Congress for review later this week.

Slashing time for postal workers isn’t the only cut they are looking to make. The agency is also said to be suggesting closing several branches and expanding the use of self-service kiosks in supermarkets and other retail spots. Despite all these measures, the USPS is still expected to lose $7.8 billion in 2010.

Not good. Not good at all.
