Congrats to Jan-soon, a 27-year-old female giraffe at Everland Zoo in South Korea.
She just set a world record!!
Jan-soon gave birth to her 18th calf just a few days ago. Wait├óΓé¼┬ª 18?? That’s crazy!!
She is now officially the world’s most prolific giraffe mama in captivity!
Because the gestation period in a giraffe is about 15 months, Jan-soon has been pregnant most of her adult life.
She is part of the endangered species, the Reticulated Giraffe.
There are less than 5,000 reticulated giraffes living in the wild so Jan-soon is doing more than her part to save her species!
Each one of her babies is a little miracle!!
