This is why victims of sexual abuse have such a hard time coming forward!
Last week, the news broke that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo‘s Mama June was allegedly dating Mark McDaniel, the man who molested her oldest daughter Anna Marie Cardwell, aka Chickadee, and she’s speaking out.

The 20-year-old was quick to initially say that she believed her mom’s side of the story, but in a recent interview she explained she doesn’t know who to believe. She said:
“[He] would try and touch me and all that stuff├óΓé¼┬ª I’m just confused. I’m hearing one story from Mama and another one from someone else├óΓé¼┬ª My whole body believes that she is telling the truth. but my mind is going back and forth from ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ you know, hey, she’s telling the truth or she’s not telling the truth, but most of me believes her├óΓé¼┬ª I would feel hurt. I would not feel betrayed, but I would feel hurt. You know the past should be in the past and it should stay in the past and not come back out.”
Chickadee was only 8 years old when the incident happened, and she told Mama June about it, but the matron victim-blamed her! Anna explained:
“A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama and she was upset, crying and saying, ‘I don’t believe you, I don’t believe you, why would you do this to me?’ And I was like, ‘Mama, he did that to me and I can’t do anything about it. You were never there to see it you were always at work.”
That’s heartbreaking to hear!
Following that horrible time, Anna lived with her grandmother, but moved back in with the family prior to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo being filmed, saying that she’d chosen to put the past behind her.
But now that Anna has her own daughter Kaitlyn to think about, she said:
“I would not let her see Kaitlyn unless Mark is out of the picture or away because I don’t want him nowhere near my child. Nowhere close to her.”
It sounds like despite going through such an awful experience, Anna has come out with a very mature, forgiving, and extremely realistic view on the situation.
