This is SO disturbing…
Four people have been arrested in France after a truly shocking incident at Disneyland Paris in which a grown man allegedly attempted to marry a 9-year-old girl. We’ll repeat that, 9 YEARS OLD! Not a typo, y’all! NINE!
According to The Sunday Times, the 22-year-old British man had set the whole thing up on Saturday — he was going to wed the young girl in front of the theme park’s Sleeping Beauty castle. What, Beauty and the Beast too on-the-nose for ya?
Thankfully, staff noticed how young the “bride” looked and immediately alerted authorities. Alexandre Verney, assistant prosecutor for the Seine-et-Marne Département, told the outlet that as soon as the young girl was in police custody she was taken in for a medical examination. Luckily, the exam confirmed she was unharmed and hadn’t been a victim of abuse — but seriously, what was all the wedding BS about?!
Well, according to police, the “groom” said he was attempting to make a video for social media… Yeah, he alleges he was using this whole stunt as a form of ragebait to get attention online. Absolutely disgusting. These types of situations aren’t something to make light of! They’re real and poor children across the world deal with this kind of abuse and grooming every day!
What was the idea, to then go online and say “look how Disney approves of this”? Who’s the sick one here, guy??

Verney said the Brit, two Latvian nationals aged 24 and 55, as well as the young girl’s 41-year-old mother were arrested. Yep, her mom was IN on it! Since their arrests, her mom has been released along with the 55-year-old Latvian national, but the other two in on the scheme remain in custody because of financial fraud allegations. It’s unclear whose custody the 9-year-old girl is in, but we hope she’s safe…
This social media “prank” has been revealed to be way more elaborate than anyone thought, too. According to Le Parisien, a large group of paid actors had been bused into the park to be attendees at the “wedding” ceremony — without any prior knowledge there was a child bride! A witness stated to the outlet:
“We all thought we were going to attend a wedding. Everyone was stunned, no one expected it.”
The witness went on to say the park handled everything perfectly, despite the circumstances:
“Disneyland did things very well. They canceled everything as soon as they realized the bride was a child. We were shocked to see that.”
We can’t imagine the shock and horror these people experienced, thinking they were just making some extra cash.
We’re so glad to hear the 9-year-old girl was unharmed and this whole situation was shut down, but we just can’t wrap our head around it! People will do some WILD and nasty things for social media clout…
