And a leading sleep consultant said that it’s probably true that Stephen Davies suffers from what’s called sexsomnia, or not being able to control sexual urges while asleep. Kind of like sleep walking, but way more offensive.
Especially in Davies’ case, where the victim was a 16 year old teenage girl.
The thing is, though, “two of his former partners said they had got used to being groped in the middle of the night by Davies.”
So he has previous witnesses, along with this:
The following day she received text messages from Davies in which he asked if anything had happened. Davies was arrested and told police he woke up with an erection and wondered what the teenager was doing in his bed.
Asked if he had had sex with her he replied: ‘Not that I know of.’
The prosecutor added it was significant that Davies appeared to have gone downstairs and boiled a kettle after having sex.
But the complainant says that he returned from that and sexually assaulted her again.
This is a difficult one to believe without a previous diagnosis, but, it’s entirely possible:
Dr Chris Idzikowski, director of the Edinburgh Sleep School and an expert in sleep disorders, said sexsomnia fell into the category of sleepwalking, which affected about four per cent of adults. Sexsomnia affected far fewer people, but partly because they were less likely to go to their doctor and complain.
Either way, it’s super sad that it happened at all. We mean, how does someone prove in that instance that it was or wasn’t sexsomnia? Couldn’t that potentially be abused?
We don’t really know what to think!
Do U feel like he’s telling the truth?
