Is That Several Dozen Turtles Down Your Pants Or Are You Just Happy To See Us? Man Caught Crossing Border With 51 Live Turtles In His Sweatpants!

Kai Xu, a Canadian man, was caught trying to cross the border into Canada smuggling some contraband:
51 live turtles!!
Seriously, we couldn’t make this stuff up, he legit had 51 live turtles taped to his legs and groin!
Apparently he was caught when two fish and wildlife agents saw him disappear behind some semi-trailers in a Detroit parking lot. He reappeared ten minutes later with weird bulges under his sweatpants.

They were initially tipped off by a UPS driver who found a suspicious package labeled “live fish keep cool.”
Xu and another man, Lihua Lin, were trying to get the North American pond turtles into Canada because there they can sell for $1,300 – $1,500 PER TURTLE on the black market.
That means the turtles would go to ancient medicine, collectors and Asian food markets.
We’re so glad these turtles were rescued instead!
