Did You Know Being Gay Gets You Out Of Jury Duty?

If you’re about to get enraged, hold that thought! This works in our favor and its a smart way to get our message of equality out there!
According to reports, Jonathan D. Lovitz, a gay man from New York was excused from jury duty because he insisted he couldn’t be impartial as a gay man who has been treated like a “second-class citizen”.
Jon explained on his Facebook page:

“I raised my hand and said, ‘Since I can’t get married or adopt a child in the state of New York, I can’t possibly be an impartial judge of a citizen when I am considered a second class citizen in the eyes of the justice system.’”

And that did it! He was off the case immediately.
Nice! Guy sounds pretty clever, as well as pretty strong to stand up for what is fair.
Maybe when everyone is equal, everyone will feel keen on fulfilling their civic duties.
