Alpha Man, located in El Lay on the fashionable Melrose Ave is feeling some heat about their window display celebrating the 10th anniversary of photographer Helmut Newton‘s book SUMO.
The window, which is a recreation of the book’s cover, is decorated with a nude, wide-stanced mannequin complete with female landing strip.
Newton’s estate are the ones who are angry with the store because they find it offensive.
Have they not seen the cover???
Darren Gold, co-owner of Alpha Man says “We’re in awe of him, we’re inspired by him. We’re not doing anything shady. This is provocative in a good way.”
Translation: They’re not taking it down.
We agree with the store.
Why doesn’t the estate go after the publisher, since they were the ones who to put that image on the cover in the first place.
