There’s a reason Mariah Carey wants $50 million from ex-fianc├â┬⌐ James Packer!
As we previously reported, the famed diva is allegedly coming after her former flame for a large chunk of money as she feels entitled to the finances which were promised to her prior to their split. Huh.
According to TMZ, Miz Carey is specifically asking for $50 million as that would’ve been the check she would’ve gotten had she and James signed their prenup. Ohhhhhhhh!

Reportedly, an email chain from back in February between MiMi’s people and James’ legal team revealed that the Australian billionaire was eager to lock down his prenuptial agreement as he wanted to marry the mother-of-two in Bora Bora on March 1. However, we can’t really blame Packer’s lawyers for dragging their feet as it seems the document was pretty complicated.
In fact, one highlight from the prenup noted that any jewelry James gave the We Belong Together singer must be returned to the businessman if the duo split up. Although, Mariah would be allowed to keep the presents ONLY IF James sent along a note saying it was a gift. Well, this explains why Nick Cannon‘s ex has a death grip on her $10 million engagement ring.
The draft also specifically stated Mariah would be entitled to $50 million if she and her beau were to break up. Well, well!

So it’s no wonder Packer’s attorneys told him it was impossible to pull off this prenup in a short amount of time. Apparently, this news didn’t make the 49-year-old very happy as he supposedly clapped back:
“I don’t know who’s working for who because there are a lot of names I haven’t heard before on this email chain. The people who work for me — message — do as I say or f*ck off. I want to get married on March 1st. James.”
Another complication we should note is at the time of this back and forth, Mr. Cannon still hadn’t signed his and Mariah’s divorce papers. It’s said James didn’t really care about that point and was eager to have at least a commitment ceremony. Not to mention, the hitmaker’s dress, flowers, and flights for guests were already secured. Crazzzzzzy!
Unfortunately for the Always Be My Baby artist, the prenup was never signed. So we don’t know if she ACTUALLY has a claim to the millions she wants. Whomp, whomp…
