Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: SVU, and her hubby Peter Hermann just adopted a baby girl!
So great!
Her name is Amaya Josephine, and she was born about a week ago. She’s also from the United States, which seems worth noting because it seems like the trend with celebs to adopt overseas. (One isn’t better than the other, adoptions are a wonderful thing!)
Here’s what Mariska had to say:
“I’m deliriously happy. From the minute she was born, she was just surprisingly alert and so full of love.
We were considering both international and domestic adoption and we’re thrilled that this is the way our prayers were answered. We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are very excited that we are now a multi-racial family. We’re just so happy she’s here.”
Cute!
And how does Mariska’s own 4 year old boy, August, feel about the new addition?
“He is over the moon. He calls her his baby because he says the whole thing was his idea. He always talks about how he’s going to protect her. He’s going to be a great big brother.”
It sounds like it!
