A Man Named Mark Spent Hundreds On A Billboard To Get Dates - And It's Working!

Forget your Tinders, Rayas, and Bumbles, romance seekers, because one brilliant man has found the solution to modern dating: putting up a huge f**king billboard of himself.

Mark Rofe (above) had apparently grown frustrated with dating apps, so he decided to take a more proactive approach by spending £425 to have a “Date Mark” billboard put up in Manchester encouraging interested parties to DM him.

The billboard shows Mark with sunglasses on striking a James Dean-esque pose in between the words (written in Comic Sans font, no less):

“Single? … Date Mark”

With that price, you can’t afford to be subtle!

Near the bottom of the billboard lies a cheeky message for all the intrigued viewers who want to find out more about the man on the billboard. It reads:

“This could be the sign you’re waiting for. Visit DatingMark.co.uk”

That’s right. Mark didn’t just erect a billboard for the sake of his love life: he created a website, too! It’s all very Ted Mosby.

A quick pop over to DatingMark shows that the website has everything a potential love interest could ask for. In between professional photos of Mark staring pensively into the distance rests a bio that reads:

“I’m Mark, an extremely handsome and modest 30 year old living in Sheffield. I work in marketing, and if you’re reading this, then I must be pretty ok at it.”

He’s got a point there!

The hapless romantic continued:

“You’re probably here because you’re interested in dating me (thank you, I’m flattered), or you’re just wondering wtf this website is about. I bought a billboard in Manchester and made this website because I’m single, all my friends are getting married, and I’m struggling to get a date.”

But he’s not struggling any more. As of this writing, a total of 1902 people applied to date Mark — however, he points out that some of those are men (not his target demographic).

Mark also put some fun facts about himself on the site, noting that he’s 6ft tall, has an index finger length of 6.82cm, has two friends, and has kissed more than three girls.

Speaking to the BBC about his now-viral self-marketing campaign, Mark said:

“Like any good idea it started off in the pub. I was talking to my mate saying how I was struggling on all these dating apps and I joked that I should put my face on a big billboard. We laughed about it but then actually I thought what a good idea.”

Mark said that while some people might think he’s “mad” for paying a few hundred for the billboard, it’ll all be worth it if he actually finds love. He added:
