A Sequel To The Fighter? No Thanks!

Can you PLEASE not sequelize your Oscar-winning film, Mark Wahlberg? It’s fine as it is.
Here’s Mark Wahlberg’s thoughts on the possibility of a Fighter sequel:

“I weigh about 185. But it├óΓé¼Γäós still solid. Ready to throw down. I got bit by the bug, and now I├óΓé¼Γäóm trying to plant the idea in everyone├óΓé¼Γäós head that we should do ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ not five or six Fighters like Rocky ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we├óΓé¼Γäóre talking about possibly taking one more run at it.”

Here’s Mark on whether or not the original cast would return for the sequel:

“Yeah. Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can├óΓé¼Γäót imagine they wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót want to go back. But it├óΓé¼Γäós still kind in the early stages.”

And here’s what Mark had to say when asked if the actual Micky and Dickie Ward liked the idea of a sequel:

“They├óΓé¼Γäóre both thrilled by the possibility. I just keep getting the phone calls…From Micky…saying ‘Make sure you get it done.’ “

We REALLY hope they don’t go through with this. The Fighter was a wonderful film, with fantastic performances, and we’d be very, very nervous that they’d ruin the integrity of the original by sequelizing it.
