An immense tragedy has struck a beloved Hollywood creative.
It’s with a heavy heart we report that Mary Kate Golding, who served as a set designer on both The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Goosebumps, has tragically been found dead in a twisted turn of events. The New York Police Department confirmed shocking details of their findings in a press release to multiple outlets on Wednesday, revealing Mary Kate was discovered dead in her family’s basement apartment at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday — with a knife IN HER BACK.
So, so, so awful. But tragically, it gets worse…

The police department has revealed the person who stabbed Mary Kate was her own husband Joseph Azzaretto.
Holy s**t…
What’s even more disturbing is that after plunging the knife into Mary Kate, Joseph left their 11-month-old son Nolan next to her body in their Astoria residence before fleeing the scene. According to law enforcement sources via the New York Post, Joseph called a friend of Mary Kate’s and confessed to stabbing her. The friend then rushed over and discovered the set designer’s dead body and child left alone in the same residence. A neighbor told the outlet they heard “screaming” upon the friend’s arrival, before the individual alerted authorities, “took the baby and walked out.”
That poor, poor innocent baby. And that poor friend who will surely have that gruesome image ingrained in their mind forever.
Authorities later discovered Joseph had left in a minivan. The shocking story isn’t over yet, though…
About six hours after the discovery of Mary Kate was made, Joseph, himself, was found dead in Astoria Park, hanging from a tree. According to law enforcement sources, Mary Kate and Joseph had gotten into a fight earlier in the night. One neighbor described Joseph as “an angry person,” adding they “decided to avoid him” and “didn’t even look at his text messages.”
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the deaths, which have yet to be formally classified as a murder-suicide.
What is confirmed, though, is that a history of violence exists in Joseph’s family. According to WFMZ, his younger brother Nicholas Azzaretto shot and killed their father Frank Nicholas Azzaretto in February 2020. Nicholas ultimately pleaded guilty to murder in the third degree and voluntary manslaughter.
Our hearts are absolutely broken. Mary Kate and Joseph’s child lost not one but TWO parents. It’s such a devastating situation all around… Our hearts are with their loved ones.
