M*A*S*H Actor David Ogden Stiers Dead At 75

Longtime character actor David Ogden Stiers, best known for playing Major Charles Winchester on M*A*S*H, has died after a long battle with bladder cancer. He was 75 years old.
The actor’s agent confirmed Stiers’ death to the media today, relaying that the longtime actor died peacefully at his home in Newport, Oregon.

Stiers joined the cast of M*A*S*H in 1977, playing Winchester as an arrogant aristocrat and surgeon who filled a major void in the show after the departure of the Frank Burns character.
In fact, Stiers did his work so well on the show that he earned himself two Emmy nominations for the series!!!
Long after the show, Stiers enjoyed a successful career as a voice actor, as well, appearing as characters in movies like Beauty and the Beast, and Lilo & Stitch.
In 2009, he came out publicly as gay, too, saying he was no longer afraid to hide it.
