Matt Damon Skips Out On Downsizing's Screening Following His Controversial Sexual Misconduct Comments!

Matt Damon is laying low!
Following his controversial statements while commenting on the sexual misconduct scandals rocking Hollywood, Matt Damon was noticeably not present at the Los Angeles screening of his film Downsizing on Monday!
A Paramount Pictures rep spoke on behalf of the A-lister, saying he was out of town “dealing with an ongoing family matter.” It’s been reported his father isn’t doing well.
Regardless, his costars Laura Dern, Kristen Wiig, Hong Chau, Niecy Nash, and director Alexander Payne (above) were all in attendance (above)!

Kristen even spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the controversy:

“It’s a delicate thing for everyone to talk about and I feel like we’re all learning. I have friends who have just told me stories of things that happened to them that I had no idea about it. It’s just been a heartbreaking thing for everybody.”

And while Laura hadn’t yet heard Matt’s comments due to Star Wars promo, she did say, “We’ve got to all figure out a way to work together” and learn to not “bully [each other] on social media.”
It must be so awkward for them!
But maybe it was for the best Damon wasn’t there?? Although we sincerely hope his family is okay!!
What do YOU think?
