This is never good — but what the Baltimore Ravens have to say about it is arguably the worst part, at least for Matt Elam‘s career.
Elam, a safety for the Ravens in the NFL, was pulled over by cops in Miami, Florida early this morning, and booked into jail right before 4:00 a.m. on charges of possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver, and possession of a controlled substance.

Elam, a 25-year-old who was the Ravens’ first round pick in 2013, had been initially pulled over for reckless driving, and cops eventually found 126 grams of weed, as well as three grams of oxycodone, in his car.
NFL reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted out Elam’s pending charges this morning (below):

Busted!
And then Rapoport also tweeted out something interesting — at least as far as Elam’s football future is concerned.

That came in this abrupt tweet (below):
Following his arrest on multiple charges, #Ravens say this on FA safety Matt Elam: “Matt is not in our plans for the 2017 Ravens.”
Oh.

Ouch.
Well then — looks like at least one NFL team is washing their hands of a player who gets caught up in criminal allegations.
Tough night for Matt Elam.
