The 1975‘s Matt Healy did an interview with Q Magazine that was released earlier this week, and in it, he said some very inneresting and awkward things about rumored maybe-maybe-not-girlfriend from way back when, Taylor Swift.

Discussing the time he met and then started flirting with the pop superstar, the rocker said:

“So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl, it ends up going everywhere…I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, ‘Who’s Matt Healy?’ so that was cool. But I didn’t make a big deal out of it myself. It’s not really anything to talk about because if she wasn’t Taylor Swift we wouldn’t be talking about her. She wasn’t a big impact on my life.”

Well, OK.
He unfortunately had to continue talking, though, and the rest of it wasn’t nearly as lukewarm:

“It’s just interesting to me how interested the world is about Taylor Swift. The reason I mention that is because if I had [properly] gone out with Taylor Swift, I would’ve been, ‘f*cking hell, I am not being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. You know, f*ck that.’ That’s also a man thing, a demasculinating, emasculating thing.”

Uh, well, “demasculinating” isn’t a word, but Healy really thinks it’d be emasculating to date Tay Tay?? WTF?!
The Internet came down HARD — very, very hard — on Healy, and on Friday afternoon, he released a long, rambling statement trying to defend himself (below):

This kind of thing is what TL;DR is for, right?!
Come on, Matt — you didn’t get misquoted or taken out of context. Don’t use that as an excuse. You said something you shouldn’t have said. You had a bad opinion!!
What do U guys think about this??
