Today Show Team Shocked By Matt Lauer's Firing -- 'It's Like A Death In The Family'

Understandably, the Today show crew is still reeling from the unexpected ousting of Matt Lauer.
As we reported, the longtime anchor was fired Wednesday morning due to alleged “inappropriate sexual behavior.”

A show insider tells People the news came as a huge shock to the morning show team:

“It’s like a death in the family. Everybody is crying. No one knows what the fuck happened. It came out of nowhere.”

We can imagine everyone’s surprise — especially since there weren’t whispers of misconduct leading up to the big news.
