Matthew McConaughey Does NOT Want The Washington Redskins To Change Their Name! Here's Why!

A lot of people are gonna feel like this is not alright alright alright!!!
It’s not exactly a secret that Matthew McConaughey is a BIG football fan, but despite growing up in Dallas, Texas, the Washington Redskins have always been his favorite team!
Well D.C.’s team has been under a LOT of scrutiny in the past few years for refusing to change their name, which is a racial slur towards Native Americans, so naturally Matty thought it would be a good idea to weigh in on the whole controversy and share his thoughts:

I know a lot of Native Americans don’t have a problem with it, but they’re not going to say, ‘No, we really want the name.’ That’s not how they’re going to use their pulpit. It’s like my feeling about gun control: I get it. You have the right to have guns. But look, let’s forget that right. Let’s forget the pleasure you get safely on your range, because it’s in the wrong hands in other places.”

OK… Well that’s definitely the type of answer we’d come to expect from the Oscar-winning actor!

But at the end of the day, does he think the team should change their name? Matt says:

It’s not going to hurt me. It’s just├óΓé¼┬ª I love the emblem. I dig it. It gives me a little fire and some oomph. But now that it’s in the court of public opinion, it’s going to change. I wish it wouldn’t, but it will.”

Sorry Matt, but “digging” the emblem and pointing out that it gives the team a little “oomph” does NOT excuse racism!!
Besides, he even points out that if the team DID change their name, he would still love them anyways! Kind of seems like a no-brainer to us!!
