Mad Men Creator Matthew Weiner DENIES Sexual Harassment Allegations: ‘I Was Just Angry A Lot Of The Time’
Putting the mad in Mad Men…
As we reported, after writer Kater Gordon accused creator Matthew Weiner of asking her to get naked because she owed it to him, Marti Noxon — another writer on the AMC show — came out in support of Gordon.
On Friday, while talking to Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan at Chevalier’s Books in Los Angeles, CA, the 52-year-old refutes the claims against him.
“The allegation is not true.”
Despite his denial, Weiner believes its important that society is having a conservation about the topic of sexual harassment.
“For like 92 hours of the show, we wanted people to be having this conversation. It’s great that we’re having it. It’s a very serious issue. It’s great that we’re having this conversation.”
As to why Gordon would come forward against him:
“I don’t want to speak to someone else’s character, but I will say this: I have hired dozens of women over the years and dozens of people. I am a demanding boss. Especially in the early years, it was very hard to do it. I had a lot of stress and ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ you know this ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ it’s very lonely. When I think back on it, if I had to do it differently, letting people go and being mad about having to rewrite everything ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ I was just angry a lot of the time.”
In regards to him firing her:
“The person I am now would definitely do it in a different way.”
