It’s been just about two months since the Ghostbusters reboot dropped its first trailer and there were mixed reactions to say the least.
Aside from the backlash over racial stereotypes, a lot of people were very confused by the trailer as it starts off saying “30 years ago” which leads fans to believe that Paul Feig‘s movie is actually a continuation of the old films, like popular “soft reboots” Jurassic World and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Well if you were one of those questioning why they would include that in a trailer when the flick is actually a reboot, you’re in good company!
Melissa McCarthy dropped by The Johnjay & Rich Show and revealed she didn’t understand the decision either! She dished:
“It’s a reboot, not a remake. I know it’s weird that they say [in the trailer] ’30 years ago,’ but in this movie it’s like the first one didn’t happen.”
Then the movie is definitely a HARD reboot. That or it is a remake, depending on how much is the same. We mean, that library scene looked awfully familiar…
But it’s definitely not Ghostbusters 3. That’s for sure.
Ch-ch-check out the rest of McCarthy’s comments on GB (below) and let us know if you’ll be catching this spooky comedy when it drops in theaters July 15!
