It's Happening! Melissa McCarthy Officially Announces Her New Plus-Size Line!

Second time’s the charm!! Or so we hope.
Melissa McCarthy has announced that she’ll be launching her very own plus-size line ready for release in fall 2015 — and it sounds like it’s actually happening!!
Talk of the Mike & Molly actress creating her own collection started back in 2011, but now she’s finally secured the right manufacturers to work with.
Partnering up with Sunrise Brands, the yet-to-be-named line will start off with casual sportswear, before eventually expanding to contemporary wear, accessories, and beauty products!
And while it’s not usually a surprise when a celeb makes the jump into the world of fashion, we think Melissa will have a very hands-on approach with her new role. She revealed:

“It’s something I’ve done since grade school. I’d lay on the floor, look through Vogue and cut out patterns. It was everything I ever wanted to do.”

Did you know she enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology before quitting and pursuing stand-up, at the advice of friend and famed designer, Brian Atwood???

Anyway, the highly-anticipated collection will start at a pretty moderate price point, ranging from $39 to $118, for her casual sportswear. And she’s shared:

“I’m doing all sizes. It’s a strange thing to stop at a certain size. Women don’t, so why should clothes?…I’ve been every size on the planet. I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more. And when you go above a size 12, you don’t lose your love of fashion.”

Yes! We love that she’s embracing women of all sizes!
And maybe it’ll inspire more designers to be open to carrying a wider range of sizes, too!
