Aww… this is sad!
A recent study found that tears of sadness temporarily lower men’s testosterone level. The tears trigger this in men when they get close enough to smell them (even though tears have no discernible odor).
The scientists suspect the same is true of women seeing men cry, but they just haven’t tested it yet.
“It’s hard to get men to volunteer to cry” in a lab, said neurobiologist Noam Sobel.
Scientists have long wondered what the true function of emotional tears are, and this study willl hopefully open up some doors.
We hope that there was someone around to hug the crying women after the experiment was over!!
