This is like a bad horror movie except there’s nothing fictional about it.
Two teenage best friends from Guamúchil in western Mexico were involved in a bloody fight that left one of them dead and the other on trial for murder.
16-year-old Erandy Gutierrez was invited to the house of her “best friend” Anel Baez on March 19th in an attempt by the latter to reconcile after the two were in a big fight over some nude pics of Erandy that Anel had shared on Facebook.
When Erandy arrived she asked to use the bathroom, but instead went to the kitchen. It was there that she grabbed a knife, and allegedly stabbed Anel Baez 65 times in the neck before fleeing the scene.
She tried to cover for her actions by grieving with her friends, but was eventually arrested by the police at Anel Baez’s funeral.
A photo (above) on Anel’s Facebook – which has yet to take down the page – of the two has a message from Anel to Erandy that reads:
“I love you…you are my beloved sister…thanks for those moments of madness that provoke me and the laughter that you give me and also the desire to do crazy things with you”
It appears, however, Erandy felt very differently as she has posted on Twitter to her “BFF” things like:
“It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times.”
And also wrote:
“[You’ll be] lucky to survive until the end of the year.”
What’s bizarre is that even though this seems like a calculated murder in cold blood – the maximum amount of time that Erandy Gutierrez faces in prison is seven years. Which seems pretty low even though Erandy IS a minor.
Meanwhile the community where the crime happened has struggled with the aftermath.
Community leader Juan Eulogio War Liera said:
“In this community I want to tell you are not alone, we share your pain and anger and can add efforts to overcome the bitter moment. Unity in the family is a way to preserve peace, values├óΓé¼ΓÇ╣├óΓé¼ΓÇ╣, tranquility and have a better world.”
Our condolences to both families.
Two lives ruined by one or two awful photos is beyond sad, and is the definition of the word tragedy.
