Wow! Well this answers a lot of questions!
M.I.A.‘s new album, /\/\/\Y/\, has been getting a lot of unfavorable reviews, but the latest is coming from an unlikely source – one of her producers, Diplo, who alleges that the rapper didn’t give a shiz about any of the mindless noise she threw onto the record!
He reveals:
“She didn├óΓé¼Γäót care about it. I was in the studio with her, she didn├óΓé¼Γäót write anything. Me and Switch tried our best to be quality control of the record and she didn├óΓé¼Γäót want that. She kind of went on her own way. I was like, Look, nobody in your crew├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥we were the only people she could trust, and our asses were on the line too. We got here because of working with people like her. We care about the way things sound, and when the people that she works with don├óΓé¼Γäót, then it├óΓé¼Γäós fucked up. She├óΓé¼Γäós got a talent in every aspect. She├óΓé¼Γäós got ideas bigger than any artist I├óΓé¼Γäóve ever met and she├óΓé¼Γäós someone to fuckin├óΓé¼Γäó make that happen. All she has is a bunch of yes men around her and they kinda suck. I burned like twenty bridges with her. I build my own bridges, it doesn├óΓé¼Γäót matter. I├óΓé¼Γäóm honest. As soon as she comes to terms with what she does then we can work again. One of us has to be like, We fucked up, and then we can do it again.├óΓé¼┬¥
Wow! Sounds like he’s pretty embarrassed with the quality of the music!
We can’t say we blame him!
Hopefully M.I.A. will get her head out of her ass next time around, and focus more on making music then doing whatever she can to be against the grain!
