We guess his words at the Emmys moved a number of people!
Michael Douglas recently spoke about how he doesn’t understand why he can’t see his son Cameron, who is in prison for selling cocaine and methamphetamine, for two years.
Originally the celebrity kid was sentenced to five years behind bars, but was slapped with another five years after being found guilty of additional drug infractions in prison. Cameron currently is in solitary confinement with another two years to go!
Subsequently activist Tony Papa of the Drug Policy Alliance has now started a petition at Change.org that seeks to gather enough signatures to convince Attorney General Eric Holder to not only allow Michael Douglas’ son to see his family, but for other families to see their loved ones in prison, too!
Here’s what Tony Papa recently said:
“Every father should be able to see his imprisoned son. At first, Michael blamed his son for the mess he got into, but now, he is questioning the Bureau of Prisons and asking why he is being prevented from visiting his son for two years. Prison does not end at the prison wall… It severely affects the family members and loved ones of those who are incarcerated. Michael Douglas is being punished for his son’s drug addiction.”
Cameron is scheduled to be released from prison in 2018.
Even though they might, or might not, reunite soon, the rift that grew between Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones was thought to be because of Michael’s son Cameron.
So we’d think it’s definitely fair to say that Michael Douglas has taken the lack of son in his life very hard!
