For those who don’t remember, the athlete was arrested in Baltimore back in 2014 for crossing a double lane and speeding while intoxicated. It was the second DUI charge M.P. had faced over the course of his life, and the scandal caused considerable setbacks in his career.
Following a trip to rehab and a suspension from the USA swimming team, Mr. Phelps cleaned up his image in addition to fathering a child with his fianc├â┬⌐e Nicole Johnson. The champ also made a vow to not drink until after the upcoming Olympics — in fact, the Baltimore native might not ever drink again.
Officials connected to the case said of Michael’s:

“He is free. He followed the orders requested and is now free.”

Sounds pretty cut and dry to us! We imagine the daddy is THRILLED to have this incident behind him.
All we can say is that we hope Phelps learned his lesson this time — drinking and drive is a SERIOUS issue!
