This weekend, NFL prospect Michael Sam made a huge announcement when he came out and has a chance to be the first openly gay player in league history!
Sadly, not everyone was as excited about it as we were.
It didn’t take long for haters to voice their opinions on Twitter, and their responses were VERY ugly:

Luckily, not everyone is as narrow-minded as some of these Twitter users, and he got some support from some people who REALLY matter!
Michelle Obama sent some kind words of support to Michael and said:
You're an inspiration to all of us, @MikeSamFootball. We couldn't be prouder of your courage both on and off the field. -mo

It’s always disappointing to people react so negatively to such a positive thing, but attitudes like that are EXACTLY why the NFL needs a player like Michael to break down some barriers!
We’re also guessing he’s having a hard time hearing his haters over the support he’s getting from the First Lady!!
