Michelle and Barack Obama have tried hard to breeze past all those divorce rumors — but her latest candid comment might’ve accidentally revealed how she really feels!
The former First Lady was chatting with guest Angie Martinez on Wednesday’s episode of her podcast IMO with her brother Craig Robinson when she revealed something pretty darn surprising. She said she’s SO happy she and Barack didn’t have a son! Michelle dished:
“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy.”

When the guest wondered why they didn’t “throw in a third” to join daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, the 61-year-old got super honest:
“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama.”
Damn!!! Wha??
Is she saying she would have hated having to deal with another Barack Obama? That’s some ex-wife talk right there!
She then clarified:
“I would’ve felt for him.”
As in, as a son, he would have had a lot more pressure to follow in his father’s footsteps than her daughters? OH! LOLz! We guess that makes more sense. She also joked she’s “got plenty” of nephews to fill that void. Hear her spill the tea at the 51:19 mark (below):
While we can understand where she was coming from, this one little comment now has many folks convinced the divorce speculation was onto something.
Taking to X (Twitter), people reacted:
“Oh they’re like divorced, divorced”
“One thing is clear: she loathes Barack”
“So does this mean she really doesn’t like Barack?”
“Boy does she hate Barack. How many comments has she made about him in this way? Wow”
“The more I think about it, the more horrible that statement seems to me. Imagine disliking your husband so much it makes you happy do not have a son. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if they divorced before the end of the year.”
“Damn wtf happened”
That said, others aren’t convinced as they think she was joking and that many misinterpreted her message.
As Perezcious readers know, the couple has been battling with split rumors all year after they’ve been seen spending lots of time apart as Michelle skipped several high-profile political events. With her out of the picture publicly and Barack constantly out and about by himself, it gave rise not only to divorce rumors but also to the old conspiracy theory that he’s secretly having an affair with Jennifer Aniston! LOLz! (Who actually believes that one??) They’ve hit back at the rumors by sharing a loved-up selfie for Valentine’s Day and shutting down the chatter on Sophia Bush‘s podcast.
