Michelle Rodriguez‘s new movie (Re) Assignment is already getting heat from critics who are labeling the film as transphobic.
But the actress defended the “crazy B movie” in a new Instagram post, letting fans know that the film has major balls!
On Wednesday, the Fast 8 actress shared a picture of her in mid-movie-transition, in which she discussed the “fake hairy ‘mangina'” she had to wear while playing a male assassin who undergoes sexual reassignment surgery against his will!

Even under all those fake male prosthetics, the 38-year-old admitted she “never felt more like a woman than when I played a man.” Good to know!
Rodriguez also talked about risk she took by filming the “culture shock pic” at a time when the industry is “running low on edgy creativity,” writing in the caption:
“In retrospect I’m I glad took the plunge, the industry seems to be running low on edgy creativity & ‘real take a chance’ controversy, sometimes it makes me want to scream, instead I did what I always do when I’m bored with the ‘status quo’, I shot crazy b movie Indy to express my frustration.”
We get where she’s coming from, but there’s a huge difference between creative edginess and exploiting gender reassignment as a plot device for an action flick.
