Mikayla Matthews has really gone through it with chronic health issues — and she’s over fans making light of her struggle!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star took to her Instagram page on Thursday to participate in a new trend called “drag path,” in which users reflect on moments or objects that have left a lasting impact on their lives, typically centered on grief, trauma, or personal transformation. For this reality star, it’s all about her health.

The 25-year-old shared a series of photos and videos detailing her skin issues over the years.
If you don’t know, she’s been facing chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS), which is an “innate immune dysregulation” involving “a range of symptoms that simultaneously [affect] multiple organ systems,” according to the National Library of Medicine.
Getting candid about the difficult challenge, she wrote over the images:
“A drag path…but it’s the 4 years of joy and time with my kids I was robbed of going through debilitating chronic illness.”
Oof.
In the caption, she went on to BLAST her haters, writing:
“For everyone saying it’s just ‘rashes’ or minimizing the mental and physical toll severe skin conditions can have on someone, it can completely take away your quality of life, your will to live, and leave lasting effects on every part of your life. Looking back at these videos is super triggering, but also such a reminder that healing is possible. I remember being at my absolute lowest mentally and physically with my health like it was yesterday, and I would’ve begged to be where I’m at today. So for that, I’m so so grateful for the progress and continued healing
“
Such a great perspective!
We’re so sorry to hear she’s had to deal with these negative comments while figuring out her health. An unnecessary and cruel added stress she doesn’t need!

Mikayla has experienced chronic eczema since childhood and suspects other symptoms began after she got breast implants in March of 2023. She went public about her illness the following year, saying she was “fighting for my life” while filming season one of the Hulu series.
Sadly, her flare-ups have continued to cause problems, which has led her to spend more time in Hawaii with her family and away from her house in Utah, which she fears might be causing issues.
