Yesterday we mentioned how Walmart was selling Miley Cyrus jewelry which apparently contained high levels of cadmium.
Even more surprising was the fact that Walmart kept selling the items despite learning of the high toxicity levels back in February!
In April they issued a statement that they would be requiring its suppliers to show tests that the items have low amounts of cadmium, but they weren’t applying the new policy to items already on the shelves because it was too “diifficult” to test.
But finally some good news. Walmart has just pulled Miley’s line from its shelves.
In a new statement released by Walmart, the company now says:
“We are removing all of the jewelry from sale while we investigate its compliance with our children’s jewelry standard.”
It’s about time!
Consumer safety should always be their first concern.
