This is ridiculous! And offensive!
It’s ridiculously offensive!!!
Mindy Kaling was in the Big Apple earlier this month attending a party at the Trump SoHo New York hotel where she encountered a bizarre experience!
The actress and television stalwart was there for a Q&A panel for the 2014 New Yorker Festival to talk about her show The Mindy Project when a “tipsy man in his 80s” made her entirely “speechless” after he “cornered” her and gave her a bizarre compliment.
It was bizarre because the person the compliment was meant for was so obviously not her!
The man apparently said:
“Congratulations on your Nobel Prize.”
The compliment was apparently meant for Malala Yousafzai – the 17 year old Pakistani education activist who survived a Taliban attack – who won the esteemed prize and became the youngest person ever to do so in the process.

After the encounter, Mindy was in complete shock. But not shocked enough to not know who the man thought she was. She was quoted as saying:
“Did he really think I’m Malala? And that if I were, I’d be at the Boom Boom Room? That’s the best thing that’s happened all night.”
Ha! We’re glad she had a sense of humor about the whole thing!
She later tweeted:
“Is it bad that my first reaction was ‘YES!!! SHE IS 17!!!’?”
Lolz!
Whatever silver lining she can garner from such a meeting is fine with us!
She could have easily been super offended, and we wouldn’t have blamed her one bit!
We hope that man, whomever he was, lays off the alcohol in the future! It’s obviously not helping him avoid major mistakes in life!!!
