This could be considered borderline overprotective or super sweet, depending on how you look at it!
Miranda Lambert‘s husband, Brendan McLoughlin, is no longer a member of New York City’s finest. According to recent reports, the 27-year-old has retired from his position at the NYPD and is now working on his country singer wife’s security team!

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed McLoughlin is no longer on their payroll:
“His current duty status is retired.”
According to Fox News, attendees of Lambert’s recent concerts claimed to have witnessed Brendan helping run Miranda’s meet-and-greet events. One concertgoer told the outlet:
“Brendan was one of the security guys checking fans and when it was your turn it was actually Brendan asking if fans had anything they wanted Miranda to sign. Brendan was overheard telling one fan, ‘Have her sign your boot!'”
Wow! Not only is he keeping a watchful eye for his wife, but he’s also doing a little PR by encouraging adoring fans to enjoy every single perk of getting close to the Grammy-award winning artist. Talk about support!
For those who might’ve forgotten, the two met when Miranda and her Pistol Annies bandmates Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley were playing a set on Good Morning America back in 2018. McLoughlin happened to be working security for the show as part of his duties with the force when Monroe and Presley spotted the cop and invited him backstage to meet Lambert. And as they say, the rest was history!
Now, it appears Brendan will become a mainstay at his spouse’s concerts and public events going forward. Considering this is how they met, one could interpret this as a protective measure to make sure no other hunky men in uniform will catch his wife’s eye. Or, just a sweet gesture! LOLz.
Plus, Page Six reports McLoughlin had been moved off patrol and assigned to driving around higher-ups from his Midtown South Precinct when the public attention of his high-profile relationship became too much for cops. So, maybe this was the right move, anyway!
We hope the pair can continue to stay happy now that they’ll be working together more often. They did just celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary, too!
Shortly after the couple tied the knot in secret, a source close to the Tin Man singer revealed they were already anxious to start a family together:
“We’ve never, ever seen her so happy and think she’s finally found her one and only. Miranda and Brendan both want kids. [She] never felt ready to have children until she met Brendan and now she’s excited to be a stepmom. She even says it’s great practice for when she has a baby.”
Who knows, Brendan might have another precious person to serve and protect pretty soon at the rate they’re going!! We wish them all the best.
