Well, someone won’t be winning Miss Congeniality any time soon.
Destiny Velez, the Miss Puerto Rico 2015 winner chosen back in September by the Miss America Organization, is doing her best to try to make people forget all about the Miss Universe controversies from Sunday night.

Velez, 20, went on a very ugly anti-Muslim Twitter tirade aimed initially at filmmaker Michael Flint, after he protested at Donald Trump‘s Trump Tower in New York City earlier this week holding signs that read “We Are All Muslim.”
The pageant queen didn’t take too kindly to Moore’s signs, or to, well, Muslims in general. Luckily, we screencapped her horrific tweets before they — and her account — were deleted.

Awful.
The Miss America Organization has indefinitely suspended Velez, deleting her Twitter account and other social media profiles and cutting her off from public appearances and other duties of her role.

The organization also apologized for Velez’s tweets, issuing a statement themselves through the social network (below):

We’ll see what the future holds for Velez, but if her tweets are any indication… it might be a long road before she gets that crown back.
