Not a bad start AT ALL!
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opened early in Imax theaters, and it definitely seems like that strategic move paid off!
The new MI flick has brought in $10.5 million domestically so far, and it’s grossed a total of $14 million worldwide during it’s Imax-only opening weekend! Wow!
Here’s what Imax CEO Richard Gelfond had to say about it in a statement:
“Paramount leveraged an early release in Imax as a key component of its marketing strategy for this film and based on this promising start we are enthusiastic that this approach will deliver.”
We also support Paramount’s strategy! Hopefully Warner Bros will take a cue from them and release The Dark Knight Rises early! In fact, if they want to release it two weeks from now, we SHOULD be able to make it to a showing…or two! Ha!
