American Idol Has Its 1st Openly Gay Contestant In The Show’s History! Meet Emkay Nobilette!

For the first time EVER, American Idol has an openly gay contestant in the Top 30!
YESSS!!!
20-year-old Emkay Nobilette sang her way into the solo round with a performance of Ed Sheeran’s hit The A-Team.
MK clearly has what it takes to win it all! Even judge Jennifer Lopez admitted that she got goosebumps listening to her sing!
J. Lo described Nobilette’s talent, saying:

“She’s like a quiet storm!├óΓé¼┬¥

But with her unique look, Jenny, Harry and Keith Urban were wondering if America would vote for her to be their next Idol!
Um…why the heck NOT?!
Lopez told the tomboyish MK:

├óΓé¼┼ôYou’re not the typical American idol.├óΓé¼┬¥

Harry Connick Jr. continued, saying:

“‘Is that a good thing? Is that a bad thing? Do you fit in, do you not fit in?”

MK fired back, explaining:

“I have my own thoughts on that, too. I’m very obviously gay, and there are always gonna be people in America and everywhere else who are definitely going to hate. But I think that in the last two years there have been a lot of things that have really changed that, and have really made it a positive thing.├óΓé¼┬¥

And then, history was made!
Jennifer looked Emkay in the eyes and told her:

“The world is changing, I think. We think that you could be an American Idol!├óΓé¼┬¥

ZOMG! ALL THE TEARS!!!
MK of course broke down crying! Even Keith was welling up!
What a moment!
Congratz, gurl! We’re SO rooting for you to go all the way to the end and have Ryan Seacrest announcing your name as the Season 13 American Idol!
Ch-ch-check out the historical moment above!
