Modeling Agency Preaches Christianity To Models

In a time when models are stereotyped as bone-thin, eating-disordered, and often drug abusers, one modeling agency hopes to send a different message about their girls and the way in which they train them.
Models of Life is an organization that aims to breed successful models using Christianity. According to the MOL:

“our philosophy, based on Christian values, is to make people aware that modeling is about leading an exemplary life and exuding inner beauty….To be a model is to set an example. Just at a time when the conroversy over skinny models reflects out the perception of beauty is evolving, MOL aims o raise the standard of models to a new height: beauty achieved from the perfect balance and unity of spirit, mind, and physical body.”

The company has been heavily recruiting in London and other large cities, drawing girls in for some of their classes and preachings about the Christian lifestyle. Ruth Kadereit, a 20-year-old model and Models of Life-er, says that the classes were effective: “I think it really helped me to use my time better and accept myself…. [It helped me] understand and remind myself of the value of life and live with joy each day.”
Others have less stellar reviews: one person who attended a class said that the teaching featured only “rather limp modeling,” despite enjoying a good turn out. Additionally, Laurie Kuhrt, chairman of the Association of Model Agents, said, “if they’re genuinely trying to make contact with people with a view to turning them into good, honest Christians, I don’t have a problem wih that. But modeling is not about exuding inner beauty, it is about selling goods and services. When we recruit people it’s solely because we think they can do big advertisement campaigns and appear on the catwalk. If they can’t do that, we lose a lot of money.”
We, personally, feel that if a model chooses to incorporate her Christianity into her modeling, good for her! But, at the end of the day, Kuhrt is right – modeling isn’t about exuding your own inner beauty, but rather about showcasing the beauty of the garment you are exhibiting. Models are human clothes hangers, used to make clothes look expensive and desirable.
We do think, though, that the attitude is refreshing and should be welcomed with open arms.
What do U think about the Christian modeling agency?
P.S. Jesus wants all models to get naked!
