No more music for Montell Jordan!

Guess no more parties on the west siiiide because the R&B singer has announced his official retirement from music to become a pastor.

The singer of the incredibly catchy 90s hip hop song This Is How We Do It, has decided to give up music and concentrate on his church in Atlanta, Georgia.

The singer took to his Twitter to make his official announcement:

This is a formal announcement that after 17 years of performing, 7 albums (including 5 #1 Billboard hits) and countless charted songs, collaborations and features, I am retiring as an R&B recording artist from the music business.

As this chapter in my life ends, I am excited to begin a new endeavor and passion. As of January 1, 2011, I will be entering into full-time ministry at Victory World Church located in Norcross, Georgia. I will be serving as a Worship Pastor; fulfilling a lifelong calling since my childhood. Yes, I will be a licensed minister. It is my desire that my life and future music will reflect my Father in heaven…

Montell has also promised to give his final performance of This Is How We Do It on a soon-to-be-announced New Year’s Eve concert.

Sure, it makes us a little sad that he’s giving up music, but at least he’s following his dream! We wish you all the luck in your future endeavors, Montell!
