Montoya Por Favor Temptation Island Spain Viral Clip Explained

What’s the hottest, messiest, most talked-about reality TV show right now? Don’t tell the current US government because it’s an import: La Isla de las Tentaciones.

Technically it was an export first. The show is Spain’s Temptation Island. And in one sequence it made good on everything everyone ever wanted from the franchise. Now millions around the world are sharing the clip…

OK, first a minimal amount of background here. If you haven’t seen ANY version of Temptation Island, which only aired in the US for three seasons way back in the early 2000s, the show puts couples in a tropical paradise and splits them up into houses with hot singles. WILL THEY GIVE IN TO… TEMPTATION? Spoiler alert, yeah, a lot of them do.

In this case, viewers are obsessed with one particular couple. A guy named José Carlos Montoya and his girlfriend Anita Williams. Apparently Anita met a tattooed hunk named Manuel, and started to get really friendly with him. And in the clip heard ’round the world — no, really, this thing has been viewed over 250 MILLION times as of this writing — Montoya is forced to watch as Anita takes things to the next level with the other guy. And he goes APES**T! We’re talking rending of garments, falling to his knees, screaming to the heavens. And he starts running to the house she’s in as the host shouts behind him to please come back:

“Montoya! Por favor!”

Meanwhile the editing jumps between his run and Anita getting her own exercise on top of Manuel. You gotta see this two minutes of absolute anarchy!

AND after Montoya Por Favor started going viral, a second clip came out showing what happens in the next two minutes:

OK, so obviously this is how most folks were introduced to the show. A man howling to the heavens seeing his beloved in the arms of another man and running along a beach to confront her. DRAMAAAAAAA!

But as newbies to the show soon learned, there was much more to it than that. It turns out before Anita became a chita (sound it out), Montoya wasn’t on his best behavior either! He got an extremely over the top lap dance from a stripper. And Anita had to watch!

But then folks made the case that booty-clapping incident was after he’d already seen her in the hot tub with Manuel…

OK, you’re hooked now, right?? This is primo reality TV! And everyone agrees! Here are a few comments as folks catch on:
