According to a new report, some Chicago Public Schools employees ‘bent rules’ so they could spend $67,000 for espresso machines.
Funny business seems to be all too common in Illinois government agencies!
The report went on to say that a majority of the 30 machines purchased for an alleged culinary arts program have gone unused.
And, several months after the purchases only three were in use, though not for the program.
One has apparently disappeared and 22 hadn’t even been opened.
It was also revealed that employees separated the purchases to stay under $10,000 so they wouldn’t have to seek competitive bids or school board approval.
One employee has been fired and disciplinary action is pending against three others.
