As we mentioned earlier, Grey’s Anatomy is getting rid of one of the two gay characters they have on the show.
Actress Brooke Smith, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn as the girlfriend of Dr. Callie Torres, will no longer be on the ABC program
Smith’s last episode will be this Thursday.
Talk about a quick removal!!!
Sad!
And, her character wasn’t even written out properly or given any closure. She just walks to her car in this next episode and is never seen again.
Sadder!!!
And, according to reports, “Those who work on the ABC series [say] that the gay-themed storylines and gay characters are being downplayed and even erased from upcoming scripts.”
WTF?????
Apparently the choice wasn’t that of the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, but that of the execs high up at ABC.
In a statement, Rhimes says:
├óΓé¼┼ôBrooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it’s not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ Calliope Torres. Sara Ramirez is an incredible comedic and dramatic actress and we wanted to be able to play up her magic. Unfortunately, we did not find that the magic and chemistry with Brooke’s character would sustain in the long run. The impact of the Callie/Erica relationship will be felt and played out in a story for Callie. I believe it belittles the relationship to simply replace Erica with ├óΓé¼╦£another lesbian.├óΓé¼Γäó If you’ll remember, Cristina mourned the loss of Burke for a full season.”
So until the real reason for the firing gets leaked, why do U think they got rid of gay character Dr. Hahn?
