Out with the old and in with the new!
CBS has made the executive decision to replace the legendary Walter Cronkite‘s voice with Morgan Freeman‘s to introduce the CBS Evening News. CBS News President Sean McManus explains:
“As comforting as it is to look back on the great career that Walter had, we’re looking forward now and we just felt it was the right time to make the move that at some point had to be made. This seemed like the appropriate time since Walter’s passing [on July 17] to make the move.”
They also want to use Morgan so they can record different introductions if anchor Katie Couric is doing a special report or on location.
Pretty good gig for Morgan, but how quickly we forget about the dead!
