In 2014, 12-year-old Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier lured their friend Payton Leutner to a park in Waukesha, WI and stabbed her 19 times in order to please the fictional online horror character “Slender Man.” Miraculously, the victim survived.

On Wednesday, a Wisconsin state appeals court ruled that they will be tried as adults. They have been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and if convicted, will each face up to 65 years in prison.
