Poor Morrissey!
While the former Smiths frontman had previously made announced his desire to retire from performing for good once he hit 55, it appears that he’s been forced to put those plans on the fast-track due to increasingly problematic health issues described as a “series of medical mishaps”….and has officially canceled the remainder of his North American tour dates!
As we all know, the 53-year-old needed to postpone three dates back in January when he was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer, then suffered double pneumonia earlier this month, as well as Barrett’s esophagus, which is linked to long-term acid reflux!
A statement from his rep reads:
“Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour. Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts. Refunds for the remaining shows are available at point of purchase.”
Hey! As disappointing as it must be for the fans, we can’t imagine how frustrated, exhausted, and burnt out he’s feeling himself right now, considering everything he’s gone through recently!
We just hope he focuses on getting his health and wellness back on track, and hopefully, once that’s happened, he can re-assess his feelings about taking the stage again and make the best judgement call possible he can!
In the meantime, rest up, stay strong, and get better!
You’re in our thoughts, boo!
