Mother Of 21-Year-Old Who Died Bungee Jumping In Brazil Breaks Silence On Daughter’s Death In Devastating Post: ‘That Damned Rope'

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas‘ mother has broken her silence after her daughter’s tragic death.

In case you haven’t seen the sad news, the 21-year-old student was in Brazil and decided to sign up for a bungee jumping experience off of the Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, São Paulo. When she was there, she was hoisted up by three instructors who threw her over the side, only to realize they allegedly forgot to attach her safety ropes. She fell 131 feet to the ground, and reportedly didn’t die on immediate impact, but after EMTs arrived, there was nothing they could do.

Since then, three of the instructors have been charged with homicide, per local authorities. They remain in police custody until their hearing, and are facing anywhere from six to 30 years in prison if convicted.

A devastating situation, to say the least… And now Maria Eduarda’s mother, Valdenia Rodrigues, is mourning her daughter publicly.

On her Instagram page, per Brazilian outlet Estadao, the student’s mom wrote on Sunday:

“That damned rope took you away from me forever.”

Reading that is like a punch to the gut. So sad.

Valdenia continued:

“My beloved daughter, only today I wanted to hug you more than a thousand times. How it’s hurting me your departure. I love you forever, my princess. And thank you so much for being a part of my life during those 21 years. What an honor it was to hear you call me a mother. God, thank you for that privilege.”

Heartbreaking!

We can’t imagine what Maria Eduarda’s family is going through right now. We hope they’re able to get justice for her and find some semblance of peace.

Rest in peace.
