If you’ve been watching the shit-show known as the Jersey Shore on MTV, you’ve probably already seen the promos for an upcoming episode in which one of the female characters is punched HARD in the face by a dude in bar.
Though the show has ignited a lot of controversy over it’s portrayal of Italian-Americans, it’s NOTHING compared to the response execs got from airing that clip. Therefore, the show had no choice, but to remove the clip from the episode. MTV released the following statement:
“What happened to ‘Snooki’ was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing. After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in next week’s episode. The show will still make it clear what events transpired, including the full aftermath.”
Violence is surely never the answer, even if it is just to get ratings.
