And now, for something tOtally different.
Moments ago, the nominees for MTV’s inaugural O Music Awards were sent out via a press release. We’d heard that the network was going to give a new type of awards show a go, but we weren’t sure what exactly it was going to be about or who the ceremonies would honor. Now, we’ve got more info.
The O Music Awards is all about the digital age and how it plays into the creation and expansion of music. In this age of downloads and hashtags, experiencing music and interacting with artists has become a whole new monster and MTV has decided to celebrate that with this new show.
Some of the crazy cool categories include Innovative Music Video, Fan Army FTW, Funniest Music Short, Innovative Artist, Must Follow Artist on Twitter, NSFW Music Video and Most Viral Dance. So far, leading the way with three nominations each are Lady Gaga and Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator.
The show will air on April 28 via the Inter-webs, of course, on MTV.com, VH1.com, and LogoTV.com, plus you’ll be able to follow along with all the action through several social media networking sites.
